The event took place at Petzl\u2019s headquarters on the eve of the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.<\/p>\n<p>Seven entrepreneurs pitched their business plans to a packed house\u2014including some of the industry\u2019s most influential CEOs, entrepreneurs, and investors\u2014and received valuable feedback from Pitchfest 2017 judges Matt Compton, COO of Simple Finance; Jill Layfield, Co-Founder &amp; CEO of Tamara Mellon; Dan Nordstrom, CEO of Outdoor Research; Diana Seung, EVP of Merchandising at Backcountry; and Susan Viscon, VP of Merchandising &amp; Private Brands at REI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pitchfest 2017 finalists:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jennifer Hannon of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.machinesforfreedom.com\">Machines For Freedom<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Gloria Hwang of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.explorethousand.com\">Thousand<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Christina Johnson of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.upcycleitnow.com\">Upcycle it Now<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Amy Kemp of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elevatecospace.com\">ELEVATE <\/a><\/li>\n<li>Emily Nielson of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dirtygourmet.com\">Dirty Gourmet<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Anne Patterson of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.solavore.com\">Solavore<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Aryn Schlichting of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountaincareers.com\">Mountain Careers<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/camberoutdoors.org\/pitchfest\/\">Camber Outdoors\u2019 Pitchfest<\/a> drives innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among women with a passion for the outdoors. This year\u2019s finalists received eight months of business mentorship leading up to the event as well as coaching to help refine their pitches. Each had just five minutes to pitch their business, but it\u2019s all they needed to wow the judges and audience. The feedback and connections these entrepreneurs received at Pitchfest 2017 will help them take their businesses to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPitchfest gives women entrepreneurs the visibility and platform to bring their fresh thinking, innovative, ideas, and passion for the outdoor to market,\u201d said Deanne Buck, executive director of Camber Outdoors. \u201cThis year\u2019s finalists really delivered. We hope their Pitchfest experience catapults them forward and inspires more women to start companies in our industries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pitchfest was launched in 2015 as a cornerstone of Camber Outdoors\u2019 programming to elevate women entrepreneurs and accelerate growth and innovation in the active-outdoor industries. Since then, 26 women have live pitched their business plans to a panel of top-tier industry executives and a room full of investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders. The mentoring and feedback they\u2019ve received have helped Pitchfest participants increase their business sustainability and growth.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its third year, Pitchfest has been funded in part by The REI Foundation\u2019s Mary Anderson Legacy Grant since its beginning. This year\u2019s event was co-sponsored by Perkins Coie and Backcountry and, through a partnership with Brandlive, Pitchfest 2017 was also live streamed to more than 100 people across the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Camber Outdoors<br \/>\n<\/strong>Camber Outdoors envisions a future of Everyone\u2019s Outdoors.
