Q: What is the primary goal of the Camber Survey System?

A: The primary goal of the Camber Survey System is to create an industry DEI index through a cohort of organizations who are committed to inclusive, equitable, and diverse workplaces in the Outdoor Recreation Economy, as evidenced by their membership in Camber. Findings from the Survey provide year-on-year progress as well as cohort benchmarking and action plans.

Q: Does my organization have to be a Camber Partner to participate in the Camber Survey System?

A: Yes, your organization must be an active Partner to participate in the Organizational and Workplace Employee Surveys administered via the Camber Survey System.

Q: When will the next Camber Survey System Launch?

A: The next Camber Survey System is scheduled to launch late summer/early fall of 2021. More details to come. Exact dates will be made available on your dashboard.

Q: What is the difference between the Organizational Workplace Survey and the Employee Survey, and will our organization be required to engage with both surveys in order to participate?

A: The Workplace Survey, in which ONE leadership representative from each participating organization reports on the status of DEI efforts. Data from this cohort:

  • Provides insight into the DEI practices of companies with a demonstrated commitment to DEI as evidenced by their engagement as Camber Partners
  • Serves as a directional indicator of cohort-wide trends.

The  Employee Survey, in which employees of each participating organization report their views on the organization’s DEI efforts. This data provides survey participants with valuable information on the successes and opportunity areas for improvement in their DEI programming.

Q: If my organization participates in the Organizational Workplace Survey and the Employee Survey, will our data remain confidential?

A:  Yes, the confidentiality of our Partners’ data is of the utmost importance to Camber. Data from the Camber 2020 Workplace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Report may not be distributed, published, rewritten, or redistributed in whole or part without expressed written permission of Camber. For more information regarding security and confidentiality please contact Amy Luther at

Q: Can’t my organization just conduct its own internal research?

A: It is vital to understand the methodology of how the surveys were designed and administered to uphold the rigor, integrity, and reliability that was employed in the process. This report was the best organized and most thought provoking executive summary I have seen or heard of. A set of actionable stepping stones and a path to constant improvement and enlightenment is our best play. So much gratitude for this work.
